    The 7’4” x 30” Hypernut Foil combines short length for precise trim control of the foil with stability from the wide tail and width.

    Performance: The Hyper Nuts wide nose and tail makes it a stable shape to get up and riding early. Its short length provides precise trim control allowing you to stand in one position to pump
    the board for speed.

    The extra-reinforced Tuttle foil box is positioned just in front of the fins, providing optimal trim control from the mid point of the board.

    Foil box cover is included so you can surf the Hyper Nut normally without the foil. Using footstraps enables you to paddle with your feet always in the correct spot, and hugely improves the riding comfort.

    Rider: Size range accommodates an array of rider weights and abilities. The smaller sizes (6’10” & 7’4”) are suited to lighter and more advanced riders while the more stable 8’0” make it accessible for heavier riders and those learning the essentials of foil riding.

    Conditions: Foil riding is so popular as you don’t need a big breaking wave to get up and riding, instead you can be foiling in downwind ocean swell to knee high waves.

    We select our preferred density balsa from our supplier’s plantation in Ecuador. The sharing, bonding and longevity properties of balsa are better than any sandwich materials we have worked with. Proudly introducing a sustainable and superior sandwich technology.

    Balsa wood (Ochroma Pyramidale) is among the lightest and fastest growing of the hardwoods and is indigenous to the equatorial regions of the globe. Balsa, which is Spanish for raft, has enjoyed a colourful history of utilization in marine vessels, from the Peruvian construction of Kon-Tiki rafts in 500 A.D.

    By turning the balsa grains vertically within the sandwich structure, Starboard’s innovative end-grain sandwich connects the top and bottom faces with millions of vertical honeycomb-like pillars.

    The result: significantly higher mechanical properties than conventional petroleum-based PVC.

    • “End Grain” balsa replaces PVC in full deck and bottom, offering incredible strength and weight properties.
    • A 15kg/m3 precision molded fused cell core replicates the exact shape, offers high strength at the lightest weight.
    • Ultra-light biaxial and uni-directional high grade carbon fibers with optimized angles deliver flex and reflex for incredible response.
    • Impregnated paint pigment means no paint is sprayed reducing the overall weight, paint chips and scratches.
    • The sensational light weight increases carving ability and acceleration.
    • S-Glass tensile strength (load needed to break material) is generally 60% better than carbon and over twice as strong as conventional glass.
