Strong onshore winds at Takapuna for the first event of the Hyundai Auckland City Series last weekend shortened Saturday's course and brought it close to the shore, providing fun, fast-paced racing and great spectator viewing.
Jeremy Stephenson placed first in the Open Mens 12'6" Stock division, followed by Gavin Houghton and then Greg Barfoot. Annabel Anderson took out the Open Womens 12'6" Stock division, smoking many of the boys on the way, with Kate O'Malley placing 2nd. Fellow Starboard teamrider Troy Huston stroked into first in the Unlimited Class, Mike Ward the Surfboard class and David Hale won the Novice Mens, closely followed by Stacey Smith in the Novice Womens.
